Finally

So I finished Wayne Jacobsen's book abd have started on Jim Palmer's Wide Open Spaces Beyond Paint-by-Number Christianity.

I have been waiting to start this book since I got it right before Christmas. So far, it is a really great read.

I will be sharing some stuff from the book that move me. Here is the first one from Chapter two...

For years I was taught that "faith" is believing there is a God even if you can't experience him. Maybe instead, faith is believing that what you are experiencing is God.

Sometimes, I think we crave the "miracles" to appear before us in order to believe and yet, we don't regard things we see every day as being the miracles they are. Welcoming a new baby - there's a miracle for ya - and sometimes, if there are problems at birth, it becomes an even larger miracle to see that child survive, grown and thrive. Watching the seasons change -isn't that a miracle of nature? Just seeing the many and varied species of animals on the planet -there's a miracle too. Technology as it emerges and develops and brings us better and faster, more efficient living -another miracle, just of a different type.
We need to stop thinking in terms of a prayer for help, or someone in dire need of healing or whatever and things come together and things are ok again as being the only things that qualify as a miracle.
The truest miracle of all in my mind is that God sent his son to live, teach and die that we all may have life eternal with our Creator. Now that is really a miracle.
